US Assistant Secretary of State Robert Blake has said his country has no plans to set up a military base in Uzbekistan, following media speculation that Washington was entering a deal with Tashkent on the issue.
During his four-day visit to Uzbekistan, Blake met President Islam Karimov and discussed bilateral and multilateral cooperation and development, Xinhua reported.
The two sides also exchanged views about coordination on Afghanistan.
Uzbek authorities had earlier said the country was moving to ban foreign military bases on its territory.
